In 2021, the California Legislature passed AB506, which updates state requirements for organizations that serve children and youth. The changes are related to training, background checks and policies.

While the intent of the law’s drafters is undoubtedly noble, the legislation contains sections that are vague and raise practical questions about how to comply.
