FRITZ HAHN

FOUNDER AND MANAGING MEMBER

Meet founder Fritz Hahn

Fritz Hahn is the founder and managing member of Ministry Pacific and has three decades of experience in the insurance industry.

Raised in Southern California, he is one of five children born to a German father and Hispanic mother.

Fritz is a U.S. Navy veteran, served in the Submarine Service and earned a bachelor’s degree from California State University in Fullerton.

Before founding Ministry Pacific, he worked as a purchasing analyst and later managed the capital equipment purchasing division for over 600 branches of a national financial institution.

Fritz was also employed by the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee in 1984 where he managed material/logistics for one of the competition venues.

He has been an active volunteer for organizations including the Tournament of Roses Association, United States Submarine Veterans Association. Fritz has also served on church boards, finance committees and with other nonprofits and commissions.

After spending decades serving private industry, Fritz founded Ministry Pacific in 2005. The goal: Providing churches and charitable nonprofits with a strategic approach to insurance markets that maximizes their coverage and purchasing power.

I observed that many congregations were not being well served by the insurance industry.
— Fritz Hahn, Ministry Pacific

“Because houses of worship often lack financial expertise, they are frequently sold coverage that does not meet their most critical needs. It often appears some insurance sales teams do not have churches’ best interests in mind. I saw that some were being preyed upon, not prayed for.”

Fritz said this can be the result of commission-driven approaches that are more focused on the sale than the customer.

“At Ministry Pacific we do not pay commissions,” he said. “Instead, we take a consultative approach so there is no sales pressure on church personnel.”

As Ministry Pacific grew, several employees with church administrative backgrounds joined the company. This helped the organization provide expert knowledge based on real-world experience.

Today, Ministry Pacific insures more than 1,200 churches and nonprofits in 27 states.

“Our goal is to leave a church better than we found it,” he said. “We want to help them leave a legacy.”

WHAT OTHERS SAY

ABOUT MINISTRY PACIFIC INSURANCE SERVICES

What others say about Ministry Pacific Insurance Services

MINISTRY PACIFIC GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND

“I just wanted to say thank you for all you and your team do above and beyond what would be ‘expected’. The tools, training, and information you all provide to ministries like ours is a blessing. In today’s age it can be difficult for a ministry to navigate everything. We appreciate all your helpfulness and support. It truly allows us to continue to function appropriately while still being able to focus on the ministry work to which God has called us! Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Brett Beil, Faith Baptist Church, Wildomar, Calif.

The staff is professional, personable and there for us

“I have found Ministry Pacific to be an amazing organization. They are concise and articulate in the way they explain insurance-related issues and give us relevant answers to our questions. They also keep us informed about changes to laws and regulations that affect us. The staff is knowledgeable and professional at all levels of the organization. At the same time, they are personable and there for us. When we were given the gift of a building and property, we decided to use it to create a homeless ministry. All of a sudden ministry become more complicated. Ministry Pacific walked us through our growth and helped us serve more people. We feel very well taken care of.”

Maggy Wong, board member, Reality L.A., Los Angeles, Calif.

They’re more than helpful and take care of whatever needs done.

"Our coverage has been great. Churches in our association can choose their own insurer. We recommended Ministry Pacific to all of them and explained they would get the same great coverage. Ministry Pacific has always been more than helpful every time I call. I have never had a bad experience. If someone doesn't immediately know the answer to my question, they get it right away. Ministry Pacific just takes care of things. I always know it's going to be done. They have a great team of people. I have several other insurers call every year and my answer is always, 'No thank you. We're happy, we have good coverage and great customer service.'"

Rita A. West, Ministry Assistant, Mid-Valley Southern Baptist Association, Fresno, Calif.

Ministry Pacific was creative and tenacious in helping us find nonprofit insurance

“We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without Ministry Pacific. We’re a new nonprofit and their team worked relentlessly to find us the right coverage. We’re all about helping at risk youth to get a second chance, but we can’t do it without insurance. Ministry Pacific listened carefully to our goals and dreams and help us steward our resources well. They were creative, tenacious and thorough, helping us understand our risks and the ways insurance could protect us. They helped us obtain the best possible coverage based on our resources, risks and needs. We have confidence in them and know they want us to succeed.”

Robynne Jeisman, Executive Director, Turntable, San Francisco, Calif.

we moved our insurance to ministry pacific and have not been disappointed

“When I began in my role with The Alliance, some of our churches were part of a group plan. I have a background insuring churches and knew we could obtain a higher level of service than we were receiving. I also wanted to make sure our churches had the coverage they needed. Some Alliance churches were already customers of Ministry Pacific and spoke highly of them. Ministry Pacific impressed me as an organization that could deliver what it promised, so we moved our insurance to them and have not been disappointed. Ministry Pacific makes sure our buildings have a proper valuation – a vital matter frequently overlooked. And they also offer many coverages beyond buildings and liability that churches won’t realize they need – until they have a claim. Ministry Pacific also offers resources and referrals to help us manage risks. This includes trusted referrals to background screenings for volunteers, church security training, HR issues and education on child safety. These are all things I’ve found Ministry Pacific delivers well.”

Dan Allen, Managing Director,  South Pacific District of the Alliance, Temecula, Calif.

Our approach to church and nonprofit insurance

Church and ministry insurance is our exclusive focus

Ministry Pacific is an independent insurance broker for churches and charitable nonprofit organizations. Because we are a broker and not an insurer, we can provide diverse options for customers. Insurance companies are usually limited to offering their own products, regardless of deficiencies in price or coverage.

  • Our bidding process ensures customers receive competitive rates and the best coverage for their unique needs.

  • Our focus on churches and nonprofits means we insure them from a position of expertise. We understand their unique risks and recommend policies with them in mind.

Our team is also equipped to serve Spanish-speaking pastors, church leaders and congregations.

How we create your policy

We begin with something revolutionary: listening.

We strive to learn about your unique risks and goals. To answer your questions. Then we begin with a blank canvas, not a paint-by-number approach predetermined by what we want to sell.

We, do, however, take an approach based in the real-world. Ministry Pacific develops your plan on the premise that you will likely suffer some sort of loss and that your insurance will need to cover it. Often, insurers write bare bones policies that are inadequate for the events they claim to cover. The rep gets the sale, but the church gets an inadequate insurance policy.

We’re church members too, so we put ourselves in your shoes. We want insurance that truly protects our church, and we want that for you too.

How we’re different

In a highly technical and diverse industry, we are plain spoken. Although insurance involves technical language, the most important information can be communicated without needless jargon.

We’re also committed to educating our customers. And this is not a one-time event. We keep you informed year-round so you can make decisions about what is best for your church. We don’t disappear after you make a purchase. In fact, that’s when the relationship begins.

Many Ministry Pacific employees have served on church staffs. Still more actively volunteer in their congregations today. This means we understand the world of churches and nonprofits and are in a position to help solve problems.

Because we are in the risk-reduction business, we also provide resources outside the realm of insurance. Ministry Pacific has partnerships with human resource experts, accounting pros and security professionals because we want to help churches and nonprofits succeed in all their endeavors.

And as a church and nonprofit insurance broker, we provide a competitive difference. We are beholden to no particular company and are free to seek the lowest and best bid for you. Although a product as important as insurance should not be based on price alone, we understand the need to provide value. In addition, by combining multiple churches in group plans, we’re able to create economies of scale that lead to competitive pricing.

We understand most nonprofit and church resources are invested in assets, namely property and facilities. While those are worthwhile and necessary investments, it often leads to tight operating budgets. This means insurance – the right policies and amount – is critical to ensuring their legacy. Every dollar counts. By ensuring you receive competitive rates, we become a partner in your ministry, helping you stretch your dollars and reduce your risks.
