Church policies and procedures: Much more than minitiae
Without policies/procedures, nonprofits and faith-based organizations can be governed by whims – and that’s risky.
To the uninitiated, church bylaws and policies/procedures may sound like mundane minutiae. Although bylaws are related to policies and procedures, they are not identical. Bylaws, in general, paint the big picture. Policies/procedures determine the day-by-day plan of action for churches and nonprofit organizations. Although creating them takes dedication, this effort pays off. Wise policies/procedures give an organization clear direction, defuse conflicts and protect from litigation.
