Building valuations
What is a building valuation?
A building valuation is not the real estate market value of a church or nonprofit property. Rather, a valuation is the amount for which a building and its contents are insured. An insurance policy does not promise a specific dollar amount of coverage. This would be impossible given constantly fluctuating prices, new regulations and other factors. Instead, an insurance payout is calculated using the data a church has provided to its insurer. Ideally, the building valuation will equal the cost of reconstruction. Yet the vast majority of churches and nonprofits have valuations significantly below the cost of reconstruction. If this remains unchanged, an organization will come up short when rebuilding after a loss. Want to learn more about building valuations or to schedule one for your church? Ministry Pacific can help. child and youth safety training
Sexual abuse is the leading cause of litigation against churches. What can be done? The remedy is a combination of continuous training, background screening and safety policies. Your goal is to create an environment so safe and transparent that credible charges cannot be brought. We invite you to view a free webinar on this topic and download a child safety checklist on our resources page.
CHURCH AND NONPROFIT FACILITY MAINTENANCE
Tight budgets can tempt churches and nonprofits to put off preventative maintenance. Then pipes explode, potholes deepen and doors fall off their hinges. Facility failures, such as a pipe burst, can shut down activities for months. When claims are filed, it’s likely that insurance rates will increase. The alternative is to regularly inspect and maintain facilities. Learn more about facility maintenance in our free guide.
